Drone inspections of NGEMC lines to take place in June

As part of NGEMC’s preventative line maintenance program, contractors will be inspecting lines and equipment near Rock Spring, Chatsworth, and LaFayette between June 18 and June 28. Drones will be flown along the power line easements to aid in the visual inspection of equipment from the top of the pole line.
All drones will be flown by licensed operators and in accordance with FAA regulations. Using drones gives operators a close view of the equipment from the safety of the ground to detect equipment issues in advance, preventing potential future outages.
