FINAL UPDATE: Not all heroes wear capes! Thanks to our dedicated operations team, all power was restored at of about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night.
A powerful storm system swept through our service area on Friday afternoon, breaking 18 poles, toppling countless trees, and leaving 14,832 members without power. Crews worked around the clock to restore power.
8:00 a.m. update: 137 members remain without power in 26 separate outages. Crews continue efforts to restore all power.
UPDATE: As of 5:00 a.m. 275 members are still impacted by more than 50 separate outage events. Crews remained in the field working throughout the night, restoring more that 13,500 members within 12 hours of the storm. The NGEMC operations team is not finished yet; we will continue working today until all outages are resolved. To our members who remain without power, we apologize for the extended time needed to respond following Friday afternoon's widespread storm damage. As your neighbors, we recognize the many challenges you face when your electricity is interrupted. Please know our team is doing everything they can to safely restore your power as soon as possible.
UPDATE: As of midnight, 891 members remain without power in 119 separate outage events. A special thanks goes to our line workers who are working around the clock until power is safely restored to all members. Not all heroes wear capes! Our next update will be at 5 a.m., but our line workers and operations team will not be stopping this evening. We appreciate our team!
UPDATE: As of 9:00 p.m. 2,810 members remain without power in 158 separate outage events. Crews are still working to repair damage and will be working around the clock until all power is safely restored.
UPDATE: As of 7:00 p.m. 3,622 members remain without power in 171 separate outage events.
Following Friday afternoon’s storms, 13,900 NGEMC members were left without power in approximately 200 separate outage events. Crews are in the field working to assess and repair the damage on an outage-by-outage basis.
Based on current outage numbers, our operations team is expecting the full restoration effort to last throughout the night and into Saturday morning.
Due to the widespread nature of the storm damage, NGEMC cannot give individual outage restoration estimates at this time. For households with members who rely on electricity for vital medical equipment, we strongly encourage that you consider relocating to a facility with power
