How to Pay My Bill
Bill Payment Options
North Georgia EMC offers several ways to pay your monthly electric bill. You can pay by bank draft, E-Check (electronic check), or by credit-debit card or in person at any of our four offices.
Pay your bill automatically each month from your checking account. You still receive a bill ahead of time denoting the amount that will be drafted on the due date. Sign up for bank draft at any office or online.
Pay online or over the phone 24/7 without a convenience or transaction fee with our electronic checking service. Simply set up a profile online or over the phone (you will need your banking and bill account information) and you will be able to make your payment any day, anytime at your convenience. When paying by E-Check, be prepared to provide the following required information: driver’s license number, bank routing number, bank account number, date of birth, phone number and the type of account (checking or savings).

Credit or Debit Card
Use your VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express to pay your electric bill either online or over the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Credit card payments can be made over the phone, online, or at any of our self-serve kiosks located at our offices in Dalton, Fort Oglethorpe and Calhoun. A convenience fee of 2.45 percent applies to each transaction. There is no limit on the dollar amount of each transaction.
Self-service payment centers are up and running inside ShopRite grocery stores in Chickamauga, LaFayette, and Tunnel Hill. The payment centers accept cash, credit/debit card, and check. There is a $1.50 fee for making NGEMC payments (charged by our third party vendor) with cash and check at the ShopRite locations. The fee for using credit and debit cards is 2.45%. NGEMC payments are posted immediately.
Self-service payment centers are also inside NGEMC's Dalton and Fort Oglethorpe offices and outside the Calhoun office and the Dalton office at the drive-thru. The Dalton and Fort Oglethorpe touch screen stations can be used during business hours while the Calhoun office and the Dalton office drive-thru touch screen payment stations can be used 24/7.
At all payment centers, change is not given for cash payments, instead a bill credit is applied. Besides paying NGEMC bills, payment center visitors can pay other utility and/or mortgage payments. Fees for making other types of payments vary depending on the business arrangement with the kiosk vendor. These other types of payments are typically posted next day.
Mail, drop box, drive thru window, or in person
Bills can always be mailed, placed in our 24-hour drop boxes or brought to our local offices. Attendant served drive thru windows at NGEMC offices in Calhoun, Dalton, and Fort Oglethorpe are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The drive thru at NGEMC's Trion office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A self-service payment center lane is also located at the Calhoun office and Dalton office drive thru and can be accessed 24/7.
Important to know if paying by check
NGEMC customers who provide a check as a payment authorize North Georgia EMC either to use the information from your check to make a one-time electronic fund transfer from your account or to process the payment as a check transaction.
When we use information from your check to make an electronic funds transfer, funds may be withdrawn from your account as soon as the same day we receive your payment and you will not receive your check back from your financial institution.
If you have questions about the check conversion process, please call our member services representatives at any office.
