Have a plan ready when severe weather strikes

A life-threatening hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico is forecast to have a significant impact on our area in the next 48 hours.

Following Wednesday and Thursday's severe storms, multiple crews are in the field and working to restore power.

If the power is out to part of your home or if your power is out but your neighbor's is on, please check your breaker.

A combination of dynamic weather and natural elements provides a challenge for the power grid.

Following Thursday afternoon’s storm, more than 2,400 NGEMC members were left without power in approximately 80 separate outage events.

While crews anticipate significant progress before nightfall, the full restoration effort is expected to last into Saturday morning due to the extent of the damage and the number of individual outage cases.
