High school seniors who reside on NGEMC lines are eligible for the $2,500 NGEMC Chairman’s Memorial Scholarship, named in memory of NGEMC Chairmen Howard Baker and Gerald Lowery.
NGEMC awards one scholarship to a student from each of the seven counties it serves. The Northwest Georgia Community Foundation assists NGEMC in presenting the scholarship by selecting recipients from the pool of applicants.
Winners include Emalee Collins, Armuchee High School; Charleigh Crider, Trion High School; Spencer Hayes, Dalton High School; Sydney Kruger, Lafayette High School; Emily Lin, Heritage High School; Ross Stewart, Sonoraville High School; and Sara Wooten, North Murray High School.
Washington Youth Tour is a leadership program for students living in households served by NGEMC. This year, Brody Haddock, Ringgold High School graduate, and Emalee Collins, Armuchee High School graduate, attended Washington Youth Tour in June 2024 representing NGEMC. Applications for next year's tour will be open on the co-op's website in October for current high school juniors and seniors.
