Possible Phone Scam

A member has notified us that during a scam call, NGEMC’s phone number and/or name appeared in the caller ID.

McLean Engineering to audit pole attachments in 2017-2018

As a requirement of our joint use agreements, we periodically perform an audit in order to keep records up-to-date.

We have partnered with McLean Engineering to perform the audit, which will begin this week and will take approximately 8-10 months to complete. Inspectors will audit all pole attachments.

Phone Fraud in NGEMC Service Area

NGEMC has received a report that several of our members have been targeted with a phone call demanding immediate payment on the bill or they would be faced with an immediate cut-off.

If you receive a call such as this, the best course of action would be to end the call and check your account online through NGEMC’s website, or to contact an NGEMC Member Services Representative to verify your account balance by dialing one of the phone numbers listed on our website.

Space Heater Safety

Space heaters are a leading cause of house fires during the Winter. Take these important safety precautions when using them.

  • Only use heaters listed by a recognized testing laboratory.
  • Place your space heater on a level, non-flammable surface away from furniture, drapes, rugs, etc.. 
  • Make sure your space heater has an auto shutoff function.
  • Never pair your space heater with an extension cord.
  • Never leave a space heater unattended when in use.
  • Purchase space heaters that are cool to the touch.
